At Hazel Technologies, a significant portion of the team is comprised of scientists and post-harvest produce specialists who conduct trials to optimize product performance across various crops.
The most successful trials are turned into case studies to support marketing efforts, but previously these were presented either as high-level one-pagers or trifold brochures, or in detailed PowerPoint decks—formats that were either too brief to convey depth or too rigid for broader dissemination.
The science team requested a new white paper–style template that could serve as both a digital download and a printed document for customer meetings, bridging the gap between technical rigor and accessible storytelling.

I began by synthesizing the trial data in collaboration with the R&D team and post-harvest scientists, identifying the key takeaways and insights that would resonate with potential customers. Together, we established a clear narrative arc: the first spread serves as a concise, high-level overview that can function as a standalone one-pager, while the subsequent pages dive deeper into methodology, results, and analysis. The design emphasizes clarity and readability, incorporating consistent visual hierarchies, charts, and imagery to present complex information in an approachable and professional format.

The template has since been applied across multiple crops, including table grapes, Anjou pears, honeydew, cantaloupe, and limes, and has become a standard for showcasing Hazel’s trial results. Its adoption has increased the visibility of the team’s work across departments and with customers, helping previously skeptical clients gain confidence in the products and encouraging them to trial them for themselves.
The template’s success has led to plans to implement it for all marketable trials across Hazel’s suite of compatible crops—now totaling over 30 fresh fruits and vegetables—establishing a scalable, repeatable system for communicating the company’s scientific expertise.
